The second issue of the laboratory's newsletter presents the achievements of GANIL and its community in recent months. The 2018 GANIL experimental campaign ran from April to July. The AGATA, NEDA and DIAMANT detectors were coupled for the first time for increased efficiency in selecting the relevant nuclei for study among those produced in reactions. The recent SPIRAL1 facility upgrade, which produces and post-accelerates radioactive beams, has been tested and will deliver new beams to experiments in 2019.
Equipping and testing the SPIRAL2 facility is ongoing, notably with the enhancement of the SPIRAL2 cryogenic system.
In this issue, we would like to highlight the latest and future events for our projects and our community: the last PAC and IPAC (Interdisciplinary Program Advisory Committee) evaluation for the future experimental campaigns; the arrival of the first triplet of superconducting multipoles of the S3 spectrometer; the project reviews for the SPIRAL2 RFQ and the experimental room S3.
This autumn's GANIL community meeting gathered our community and opened a new discussion space and opportunities for physics experiments and research at GANIL.
We are proud to announce the launch of the new GANIL website, which you will discover by clicking on the links in the articles below. Its creation was funded by the IDEAAL European project. We wish you a happy holiday season.
